Coir Mat Geotextile

Coir Geotextiles are 100% natural, bio-degradable fabrics made from coir yarn. They are widely used to control soil erosion and promote vegetation in landscaping and geotechnical engineering. Coir Geotextiles are woven fabrics made from coir yarn. Coir Yarn is made entirely of natural coconut fibre. As a result, coir geotextile is completely organic and biodegradable. Coconut fibre is naturally rot and microbial resistant. It is also one of the most durable natural fibres known to man. Coconut Fibre's properties are used in doormats and geotextiles.

Geotextiles and related products have numerous applications, including roads, airfields, railroads, embankments, retaining structures, reservoirs, canals, dams, bank protection, coastal engineering, and construction site silt fences or geotube. Geotextiles are typically placed at the tension surface to strengthen the soil. Geotextiles are also used to protect upland coastal property from storm surge, wave action, and flooding by armoring sand dunes. Within the dune system, a large sand-filled container (SFC) prevents storm erosion from progressing beyond the SFC. Using a sloped unit instead of a single tube eliminates scour. Its fetaures are as follows:

  • 100% natural and bio-degradable
  • Highly porous in nature
  • Coir can retain a significant amount of moisture
  • Coir fabric retains the top soil and provide an ideal environment for the plants to thrive

Because of their high mechanical strength, coir (coconut fibre) geotextiles are popular for erosion control, slope stabilisation, and bioengineering. Coir geotextiles have a lifespan of 3 to 5 years, depending on fabric weight. The product breaks down into humus, which enriches the soil.
